Over the years Katkatha has grown organically to expand the possibilities of using puppetry by looking at applied puppetry and exploring multiple collaborative projects both in India and abroad. 

What is applied puppetry? In short, it is the exploration of the art form beyond its entertainment value, in the field of like education, advocacy, awareness building, initiating discussion on socio-political issues and aiding in therapy. The key areas covered by projects so far have been 

Community and Peacebuilding - Intercommunity dialogue, Art Based Therapy,

Gender and Health - HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, Reproductive Health, Child health

Education - Arts in education. Collaborations with organisation using the arts in education and to talk to children about various issue, Creating awareness about puppet theatre
