Introduction

Unbelievably ,we are on to the second newsletter!! For a while I was not sure we could do it, not because there was nothing to say but because these last four months have been far more dramatic off stage than on. Let me explain that further . This has been a transitory phase for Katkatha. We are trying to organise our team better to cope with all the different things we do.

Having made a side-door entry into the world of India’s biggest obsession, ‘Bollywood Bandwagon’ stands on the edge of a film set watching the goings-on – WITHOUT any colored glasses! But being a true-blue voyeur, gradually the play makes its way into the more intimate spaces of the industry - some secret, some forgotten, some taken for granted. And the further inside it goes, the farther away it gets from the shiny veneer; Until the magical becomes mundane and the people inside look the same as the ones outside.

THE OUTSIDER - IN……….

Living in Bombay for 3 years, I did the whole jig of getting a portfolio shot, waiting in line for an audition, meeting the powers that be. It wasn’t fun; and for a weak-hearted person like me, it was also occasionally painful.
