Puppetry in community interventions and awareness programmes

It is a Lecture based training focusing on the uses of puppetry as a tool of social development, political participation, education and community health awareness which is followed by tremendous series of discussions to encourage to develop own model of theory and practice on any of the issues the individual felt best to be addressed.

We belief that puppetry can be a very powerful medium of communication, questioning and spreading awareness and information in an entertaining and effective way. It provides the platforms because a puppet has no ego therefore taboo subjects are easy to tackle. The technique of  using a puppet in the areas like sexual behavior, HIV/AIDS, social norms like early marriage, gender inequalities are demonstrated through medical facts with the help of  shadow puppets, interactive models and with interesting characters. It also encourages people to participate actively to share one’s thoughts and opinions about the various issues that are covered here.
