Half a kingdom

BACKGROUND:
Half a kingdom is a story of the kitchen maid called Nola who sets out on an adventure to find Prince Lini. It is an adaptation in Hindi from Ann McGovern’s book of Icelandic fairytales and brought to life by puppets and music.

SYNOPSIS:
King Lini the 13th is the ruler of Iceland. All he does is eat and drink all day with his courtiers. The only work he ever does is declaring new taxes to be paid by his subjects. Nola is the little kitchen maid in the royal palace that does all the work. One day Prince Lini the 14th disappears mysteriously and the whole kingdom is thrown into chaos looking for the prince. The king declares a handsome award of half his kingdom for anyone who finds his son. Nola sets off too for the reward and finds the prince sleeping in a cave, under the spell of a terrible troll. She finally rescues the prince from the terrible troll by tricking her. The king gives her half the kingdom but Nola gives it away by equally distributing to all the poor people. And of course the prince and Nola marry in the end.
